Unconference: Revolutionary professional learning
M.E. Steele-Pierce has written a blog post which I recommend everyone interested in Edcamp Vancouver read. She writes:
“Most PD stinks.”
That was not the answer I anticipated when I asked Dan Callahan, one of the founders of theedcamp movement in the United States, to what he attributes the growing phenomena of edcamps across the nation."
Unconferences are part of the learning revolution. They’re participant-driven professional learning gatherings. The “un” refers specifically to the fact that there is no top-down organization, no high registration fees, and no vendors. Organization is democratic.
I'm excited about our upcoming unconference, and I hope it is as successful as the unconferences I've been reading about elsewhere.
