We just found out about some street closures due to the Vaisakhi Parade, organized by the Khalsa Diwan Society, will take place Saturday, April 16^th, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City is closing the following streets to accommodate the parade

We will be closing registration this Monday so that we can provide our food sponsors and the John Oliver staff catering the lunch enough notice for food preparation. After Monday, the registration link for the conference will be taken down, although you will still be able to register for the website.

So please let everyone know that their final chance to register is this coming Monday. We are excited to see the interest that has arisen, and look forward to seeing you all in 10 days.

Our next meeting is set for this Friday, the 18th of March at 6pm at the Rhizome Cafe. Our previous minutes are available here.

M.E. Steele-Pierce has written a blog post which I recommend everyone interested in Edcamp Vancouver read. She writes:

At 7pm on Saturday, March 5th, Edcamp Vancouver will be having a screening of the show, "Schooling the World" hosted at Rhizome Cafe.

Just a reminder folks, we have a meeting coming up this Saturday, February 19th at 9am. We will hold it at Cafe Vancouver again, since that seemed to work well.

I've set up a system so that I can send out announcements to people who have signed up for the website. I'm testing it out now, and have sent out a meeting notification. Please let me know if you did not receive it last week. If you'd like the ability to opt out of these emails, please let me know. I promise not to send too many of these emails, probably about one a month leading up to the Edcamp Vancouver event.

I talked to Mary Beth Hertz (@mbteach) today over Skype about how she has set up the beginning of the Edcamp sessions she's helped run. I wanted to make sure I understood the process.

Here are some notes from our conversation I took for our reference.

Sometime near the end of this month, we will be creating an official form for people to register for Edcamp Vancouver. We haven't finished creating it yet because we wanted to make sure we had all of our details correct.
